Ladies and gentlemen, these are my favourite short dresses this season!
I love the colours. The mysterious and deep midnight blue, the optimistic dark green, the warm orange and the puristic white are serene and grown-up.
The dresses are not sexy, but GRACEFUL and this is an attitude we need to re-claim these days! Girls like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have made the term "sexy" almost a swearword by mixing it with tackyness and brainlessness. They have destroyed everything our mothers fought for in the feminist movement and its up to us to undo this harm by representing a subtle, classy, clever and graceful femininity. We need dresses like these, that make us look attractive, not available! Dresses that show our beauty and curves but cover it. No unnecessary fuss, just classy, perfectly tailored dresses that allow our personality and beauty to shine.
I also love the "universal femininity" of the collection! The dresses will work on every woman age 15 to 60 and go well with all shades of skin and hair. The last reason I love the dresses is their wearability. They could really be worn by most of us at all evening occasions from having a cocktail with a friend to attending a party.

The new Roberto Cavalli advertising campaign for Spring/Summer 2012 revolves around the iconic beauty of four Supermodels: Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Kristen McMenamy and Daphne Groeneveld are the Florentine designer’s muses, as he chose to represent the collection through women who embody the standards of a modern appeal.
Steven Meisel shot the campaign in the studios situated on Pier 59 in New York, set against a monochromatic background which emphasises the splendour of the printed silk dresses and the garments, illuminated by golden embroidery and sumptuous embellishments. The make up was done by Pat McGrath.

A static equilibrium, a structured form that creates a perfect geometry, with Naomi Campbell capturing attention with her magnetic gaze, bright and sensual. An extremely sophisticated and feminine vision.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is my favourite campaign S/S 12!
It is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT; it features four stunning Supermodels, representing different types of women in different ages, in breathtaking dresses. It is shot by my favourite photographer, who knows that 'the perfect woman' in the perfect dress doesn`t need any further addition. I love that this campaign doesn`t try to manipulate me by adding 'lifestyle scenes' or 'emotional promises'. This campaign fully stands on its own, shining and impressing with what it is: pure luxury. The world`s most beautiful women wearing stunning gowns being shot by one of the best fashion photographers of our time. Once again, Roberto Cavalli shows his true understanding of beauty and it`s perfect staging by picking only the best of everything, reminding us that luxury is not just in the opulent surface but runs deep.

The show`s attendees were a stylish fashion crowd in trendy, feminine looks highlighted with luxury accessories
The difference between the outside and the inside couldn`t have been more extreme. On the outside the venue was a classicistic monument in warm sunshine. The inside was made to look like a black industrial hall with pink and red lightening. "Caged" chandeliers were installed over the runway.

The show was DRAMA, BABY!
The models were walking to a soundtrack of heavy drums, Giorgio Moroder`s melancholic 'Love Theme' (Flashdance soundtrack) and goth rock by The Sisters of Mercy ('Ribbons').
I perceived the dramatic atmosphere as a suitable depiction of the difficulties we face in today`s world but the Cavalli woman faces it with confidence, strenght and beauty. This attitude perfectly reflects my state of mind!
The meeting between the linearity and perfection of the Bauhaus-inspired outerwear, the Baroque lavishness of the dresses and the mini-skirts determines the silhouette of the collection.
The S/S 12 show sees the debut of the ‘Florence’ bag, created as a gesture of the designer’s love for his city. Square shapes, in crocodile, nude or black, with double handles and golden metal macro padlock, engraved with a snake scale effect.
The collection features lots of precious eveningwear, composed of silk tulle dresses, embroidered with sumptuous motifs and decoration.
The leather is an expression of pure Florentine artisanship: jackets and trousers created in combinations of python and crocodile, enriched with stitching, inlays, and tone-on-tone paillette embroidery.
The long dresses follow the line of the body, with printed mousseline inlays and lace, enriched with precious embroidery applied along the sides, and paired with sartorial jackets or a slim-fitting gilet with padded shoulders.
Skirts in silk plissés with floral prints open with the movement of the body, revealing a contrasting animalier print, expressing the hidden side of the Cavalli woman‘s personality.
Opulent gold, either as a highlight or all over, is a major theme of the collection.
I even walked the runway! Ok, after the show :)

The show was amazing! I love this sophisticated, feminine collection with its fine materials, flowing shapes and luxurious decorations. It was about time opulence, decoration and fine artisanship returned to fashion - in summer collections too!

How breath-taking, gorgeous & perfect is this collection!?! 40s, military, white peter pan collars, corsets, pencil skirts, overknees, fur, leather, clutch bags, mary-janes - all my favourite elements in one collection! Sex-appeal and class have never been combined more consistant & tasteful! Marc Jacobs designer-credibility is officially restored!
PS: Kate is the queen, of course. Femme Fatales are traditionally linked to smoking, yes...but was Kate`s smoking on the runway really necessary? Yay or nay for that?
